Best Work Week Ever

Best Work Week Ever

As the anniversary of Jamie’s passing approaches, my heart continues to become heavier and heavier with grief. In remembrance, I reflect on Jamie and I’s last full work week together and it brings warmth in my heart and a smile to my face.

Jamie’s last full work week was her best ever at SAS! Hmm, you may ask yourself “how can that be?” Well for starters, our boss was out the entire week on vacation, which meant we could come and go as we pleased.

Jamie didn’t have to rush in dropping off “The Adorables” and make it to work by 8:30am. Instead, she enjoyed her ride to school and work, stopped and picked up breakfast in Building C (egg white omelette) and casually walked into the office before 9am. Some days, she even had a Starbucks’ concoction in tow. Of course, the barista knew her order!

We would sit at her desk and catch up on current events such as the Kardashians, who was going to play Ian in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, which milestones our kids were achieving and so much more. It was just two co-workers and friends sharing stories about our daily lives.

Jamie was so excited for Reagan’s upcoming arrival. She had already wrapped up her business for the month and had diligently documented the next steps in all of her open deals, so there was little to do except sit and wait. But we know Jamie, she had more important things to do!

She was off visiting friends for lunch, going to have acupuncture, running errands, making to-do lists and researching online a vast number of topics ranging from breast pump reviews, recipes, shopping, etc.

She was so full of life and excitement! She radiated with beauty and couldn’t wait to add another child to her family. I am so fortunate to have experienced every work day for the last few years with her. We shared laughs, tears, gripe sessions, instant messages, emails and everything in between. Our friendship will always hold a special place in my heart.

I am sharing this with you, so you know Jamie’s last work week was no different from any other day in her life, in that it was filled with laughter, freedom and joy!
